It's a Spider Invasion!

These are spider pops!  My friend and neighbor, Trina and I have taken on 2 of the second grade classes (the ones our kids are in) and are doing arts and crafts classes.  Unfortunately, when cuts were made in the county schools, the art teachers all went.  So some of us volunteer our time and $$ to spend time once a month with the kids.  It is a grass roots art program and we are encouraged to find themes and lecture the kids about fine art.  Boring!!!  These kids get enough sitting and listening.  So I have applied my own idea to the program and give them things to be creative with.  Since it is Halloween, this was our treat to the kids.
With a glue gun in hand, Trina and I made 42 of these cute, fuzzy spiders to hand out at the end of the art project as a little Halloween treat from us.  The kids loved them.
This was the art project we chose.  They were kits from Oriental Trading Co.  Now, you would think that this would be a project that 7 and 8 year old's could manage.  Well, generally speaking they did, but Elmer's Glue just sucks.  It is so slow to dry that it made it tough for the kids to get through the project with out everything falling apart.  We all endured and made it through.  Regardless of the project, we love being with the kids and seeing them get excited when we come each time.  It is worth the time, money and sticky fingers that we endure.  Thank goodness October class is done.  I have to finish prepping for Sandy's visit. Ta-ta!!!
