Simple Beauty

Seeing things differently can sometimes be a challenge. I am taking my second Visual Poetry On-Line Course called Digital Layers with Susan Tuttle . It is such a wonderfully nurturing place to learn. This course is really forcing us to experiment with PSE and applying layers to photos to ultimately do photo collage. I spent yesterday morning taking pictures that I can use as textured layers; concrete, tree bark, grass, bricks, mossy stones. It is so cool to see what effect it makes when you apply it to something so simple as a rose. I really encourage you to seek out one of Susan's course if you are interested in photo-manipulation. Her new book Digital Expressions is fantastic, too. I will share my creations with you as I go.

Visual Poetry has been the best experience! Susan Tuttle has done a phenomenal job with this on-line course. We are in Week 4 of the lessons and we are working on layering images this week. Amazing results! Susan is getting ready to run another workshop and registration starts on October 25th. Get on over and get the details. You won't be disappointed.

Visual Poetry- Project 1

I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am with this on-line course, Visual Poetry created and hosted by Susan Tuttle! I am behind of course, but I love practicing the lessons first to really try to understand what it is I am doing with the various steps in Photoshop.
Here is my before picture:

Heading for Charleston,SC

Don and I decided to spend a few days in Charleston, SC to celebrate our 12th Wedding Anniversary. I am very excited to see more of the South and its wonderful charm and history.
12 years ago today on September 19th we were married at a Bed and Breakfast in Bay Head NJ, at the Grenville By The Sea. It was the perfect evening. In 12 years we have lived in NJ, NY, MD, Canada, and Georgia and finally have set down some roots. You couldn't get me out of GA with a crow bar! It has always been an adventure and I look forward to whatever comes next!
When we return, I will share with you all of the pictures of Charleston.
Since we are going to be out of town for the weekend, we couldn't use our Atlanta Falcons tickets. So my friend Angela and her husband are going to go to the game. She picked up the tickets from me yesterday and brought me this awesome birds nest from her yard. I will be finding the perfect spot for this little beauty. Thanks, Angela. I hope you enjoy the game.

Have a great weekend everyone. When I get back, I will be launching into this:

I'm In Baby!!!

I have been tracking this on-line series of classes since Susan Tuttle announced it! The registration opened up this past Saturday night at 9pm. I looked down at my watch at 9:30 and ran to my computer to sign up. I made it in the first 30. I am so excited.

The first class dates are September 21 - October 18. We are going to learn photomanipulation techniques with Photoshop Elements and Photoshop.

Here's what we will be doing each week:

Week 1: We will begin by learning how to alter digital photos in order to give them a retro/vintage style.

Week 2: Teach several ways to create diffused light effects in your photos.

Week 3: Explore converting our color digital images to black and white and sepia toned images.

Week 4: Apply textures to our photos, creating cool grungy and distressed effects. One of the activities will teach you how to create faux TtVs ('through the viewfinder" photos)

This class is currently full, but she will be offering it again.

Stay tuned to see some of my creations.
