As my previous post mentioned, Don and I went to Charleston to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. What a wonderful city. It was everything I thought it would be. We arrived on Sunday and started the weekend out by going to dinner for our anniversary at a restaurant called Cypress.
It was a really swanky restaurant a few blocks from the water front. I loved the round lights in the ceiling. They changed colors every so many minutes. The tall lights along the side were trimmed in paper circles from the top to the bottom of the shade. It was really a great ambiance.
We started the evening with champagne cocktails. Yum!
Here we are 12 years later. I think there is a wedding day photo with us at the head table that looks almost the same as this picture. Dinner was delicious. We enjoyed a caesar salad made table side and chateaubriand for two. Plenty of wine and dessert. We stumbled out of there well fed and just slightly tipsy!
The meal was great. My favorite was this potato galette which was made with cream and parmesan cheese. All of the food we had in Charleston was excellent. The number of restaurants to choose from is staggering.
Before we left, honey gave me a dozen red roses that are out of this world. I took them to Charleston with us so I could continue to enjoy them. I had them in the hotel room on the desk right next to this.....
Only in the South would you see this kind of publication. I guess to be a well rounded southerner you would garden and hunt! I still catch myself laughing at some of the cultural differences from what I grew up with.
Well, I didn't get half the pictures I wanted to. I must have been too focused on shopping. The shopping down here was outstanding. Don treated me to some goodies.
Williams- Sonoma is one of my favorite stores. I found this fall loaf pan. Perfect for the crowd we will be having for Thanksgiving.
And these French Pop-Up Sponges were right at the counter. They start as those flat rectangles and you add water and they pop to full size. They can be washed in your dishwasher and last a really long time. You got 12 in a package. I should be good for sponges for awhile.
I also found a great new pair of jeans at Banana Republic, SIZE 6, Baby!!! Wahoo! I also found some things on sale at Ann Taylor. So I had a great time shopping and window browsing. We will definitely make another trip to Charleston. This would definitely make a good Girls Weekend Spot, too!
It was nice to spend a few days alone together. It was the perfect anniversary. If you ever get the chance to visit Charleston, make the time to get there. You will not be disappointed.
