Coffee Staining Adventures

I see wonderful pictures of vintage millinery that many of you bloggers manage to find, but I never seem to get lucky. So last week I found these sweet little flowers at the dollar store. They were a 6 pack for $1. They are way too white of course, so I thought I would try to age them. They are made of paper and a gauzy fabric.
Each of the flowers even had a pearl tipped pin included. I can use those on other projects! So, I placed some left over morning coffee in a bowl and plopped them in.
I left them submerged for about a minute. Then took them out and placed them on paper towels.
They came out great. They dried a little lighter than you see here, but they are perfect to use in my projects. The leaves can be cut off if needed. So for $2 I have a dozen vintage looking little roses. I need to see if I can find more! I will keep looking for some great vintage millinery, but until I do, these little coffee posies will have to do.

I hope you all have a good week.

I tried coffee staining some pom pom trim the other day, but it didn't work. I think they had too much synthetic fibers in them.

Great idea!!! I like the stained colors so much. They don't look so fake with the tea/coffee stain. Thank you for the idea!
